At the start of this presentation you made the point that "the modern world is not possible without businessmen." What absolute tripe. Its engineers who build the modern world. Its workers who take the ideas and solutions engineers come up with and make them reality. Now prior to the industrial revolution there were market economies and capitalism existed prior to industrialization. Progress is the result of human aspirations. Sometimes that progress comes from a persons aspiration to make more money. Sometimes it comes from other motivations. Making the argument that profit incentive is the only driver of progress is wrong on its face.
Sometimes its from their desire simply to make the human experience more gentle and prosperous for others. "Could you patent the sun" - Jonas Salk. He created an incredibly valuable invention. He could have benefited from the value of this invention and made the choice not too. Why? Is there maybe something more to this life than making money? Is there more to the human experience than business?
Have you wondered why business leaders are villainized? Its because they exploit people. I feel no sympathy for them. Nor empathy. They deserve neither. They use the labor of others to enrich themselves. If we were to believe the arguments you are making we would have to believe that all the achievements of large companies were the results of those business leaders alone.
Profit is not morally wrong. Profit is not morally good. There is no morality here. Morality does right by our fellow man. Profits existence is not the sign of morality.
You made a basic logical fallacy with your what aboutism regarding "People in every industry do bad things" No duh there are bad people everywhere and there are good people everywhere. Being a businessmen is not an automatic mark of virtue like you are arguing here. Ill concede that its not a mark or villainy either. What they do with their wealth and profit is what should define them. Gates and Buffet committed into action the charitable donations of their vast sums of wealth. That's a noble and morally good thing to do. That's only because they are funding efforts of others to improve the lives of people.
The argument that there is some demonization of business is completely false. You clearly are intellectuals in ivory towers that have not ever spoken to a regular person. Serving others is a morally good thing. Serving oneself is not a inherently immoral thing. Serving oneself at the expense or exploitation of others is inherently immoral.
Put lightly you both just love the taste of boot black. Absolutely disgusting genuflection.
